SEO Services in Raffles Place: Win the Searches Happening Inside Singapore’s Banking Core
Raffles Place is the oldest, densest and most contested commercial address in Singapore. Every bank, broker and advisory firm here has a website. Very few have a search strategy. That gap is where I work.
Raffles Place has the highest business density in Singapore — and the fiercest search competition
Step out of Raffles Place MRT and within a three-minute walk you pass One Raffles Place, Republic Plaza, UOB Plaza, OUE Bayfront, Six Battery Road and Chevron House. Thousands of firms, stacked vertically, most of them chasing the same clients. Proximity, which is a powerful local ranking signal everywhere else in Singapore, becomes almost meaningless here — because everybody is equally close.
That changes what actually wins. When every competitor is within 300 metres of the searcher, Google falls back on relevance and prominence: how well your content matches the query, and how much authority your brand carries. In other words, in Raffles Place you cannot win local search by existing. You win it by being demonstrably better documented than the firm two floors up.
There is also a distinct search pattern here that most firms ignore entirely. The district empties out at 7pm and on weekends. Search demand is compressed into weekday working hours and skews heavily towards professional intent — a compliance officer looking for outsourced KYC, an SME director searching for a corporate secretary, a startup founder hunting for an auditor before a funding round. Low volume, urgent, and worth a great deal per conversion.
I have audited enough firms in this district to know where the money is left on the table: sites that rank for the company name and nothing else, Google Business Profiles that were verified once in 2019 and never touched again, and content written for the brochure rather than for the search. Fixing those three things, in that order, is usually worth more than any amount of new spend. If you want the full island-wide picture of how I work, start with my main SEO consultant Singapore page.
Curious who is actually outranking you here?I’ll pull the top-ranking competitors for your core terms and show you exactly what they have that you don’t.
Request a Free SEO AuditWhat holds Raffles Place businesses back in search
Six problems, all of them fixable, all of them costing firms in this district real revenue every month.
Everybody is equally close to the searcher
In most districts, being nearby wins the Map Pack. In Raffles Place, hundreds of competitors share the same postcode. Proximity cancels out, and only the firms with strong relevance and prominence signals surface.
Paid search is a bidding war you will lose
Corporate services, audit and banking keywords are among the most expensive in Singapore, and the firms bidding hardest have the deepest pockets. Organic visibility is not a nice-to-have here — it is the only sustainable channel.
Legacy sites nobody wants to touch
Many firms here run on a decade-old CMS that IT guards carefully and marketing cannot change. Meanwhile the site has slow load times, duplicate URLs and pages Google has quietly stopped crawling.
Old link profiles hiding old mistakes
Long-established firms often have a backlink history that includes agency work from 2014. Directory spam, reciprocal link schemes, paid guest posts. It is still there, and it is still holding rankings down.
No content beyond the corporate brochure
The site explains what the firm does but answers none of the questions prospects actually type. Nobody searches “integrated solutions”. They search “how long does it take to strike off a Singapore company”.
Weak author and entity signals
No named authors, no partner credentials, no clear organisational entity. For financial and professional services — where Google applies its strictest quality standards — that is a significant ranking handicap.
The SEO services Raffles Place firms actually use
Ten disciplines, adapted for a district where relevance and authority matter far more than proximity.
Technical SEO
Legacy CBD sites are full of crawl traps: session-ID URLs, orphaned PDFs, ancient redirect chains. I clean the crawl path, get Core Web Vitals into the green, and make sure the pages that earn revenue are the pages Google actually indexes.
Local SEO
When proximity cancels out, prominence decides. I build the relevance signals — categories, services, local content, citations — that let you win the Map Pack against firms in the same lift lobby.
On-Page SEO
I rewrite service pages around real queries: “corporate secretarial services Singapore”, “outsourced internal audit”, “company incorporation timeline”. Same expertise, expressed in the words your buyers actually use.
Off-Page SEO & link building
First I clean up what previous agencies left behind. Then I build slowly from sources that carry weight in this market — business press, professional institutes, chambers of commerce — and nothing that would embarrass you in an audit.
Ecommerce SEO
For the retail and F&B tenants in Change Alley, One Raffles Place mall and the Boat Quay strip, I optimise product and menu pages for the weekday lunch rush and the after-work crowd, which behave like two completely different markets.
Enterprise SEO
Banks and Big Four firms have huge global sites, strict governance and a Singapore team that cannot change the template. I work within governance, prove impact on the pages we can touch, and build the business case for the changes we cannot.
SEO Audit
A forensic audit including backlink risk assessment — which, for established Raffles Place firms, is often where the real problem is hiding. Prioritised, scored, and written so a non-technical director can act on it.
Content Strategy
Your partners already answer these questions in client meetings. I turn that expertise into content that ranks: explainers, guides, updates on regulatory change. Authored, credited, and built for E-E-A-T.
International SEO
Regional headquarters serving ASEAN need correct hreflang, market-appropriate content and search visibility in Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong — without cannibalising the Singapore site.
Google Business Profile Optimisation
Most profiles in this district are stale, wrongly categorised or duplicated across old office moves. Fixing that alone often produces the fastest measurable win available to a Raffles Place firm.
Think your rankings are fine?
Most Raffles Place firms rank beautifully for their own name and nowhere for the searches that bring in new clients. Let me show you the difference on your own site.
My eight-stage SEO process
Structured, documented, and designed to survive the governance layers that come with a CBD firm.
Research
I start with your enquiry log and your sales team, not a keyword tool. What did the last twenty clients actually search before they found you? Everything else builds on that.
Audit
Full technical crawl, content inventory, backlink risk review and a head-to-head against the firms currently ranking above you. Findings scored by impact, effort and risk.
Strategy
A written roadmap with sequencing: what gets fixed, what gets written, what gets disavowed, and what we expect each stage to move. Approved by you before anything starts.
Implementation
Technical remediation first, because content published onto a broken site is wasted money. Staged, logged, and reversible.
Content
Partner-authored, editorially reviewed, structured for search. We publish fewer pages than most agencies and each one is built to rank and to convert.
Links
Clean up the historical mess, then build real authority through business media, industry bodies and genuine relationships. No purchased links, ever.
Reporting
Monthly, plain English, honest. Non-brand traffic, Map Pack position, keyword movement, and the enquiries the site generated. Including the months where something did not work.
Growth
Protect what we won, expand into adjacent service lines, and start capturing the AI-generated answers that increasingly sit above the organic results.
Sectors I work with in Raffles Place
The tenant mix here is dominated by financial and professional services — each with its own search behaviour and its own compliance constraints.
Banking & capital markets
Search visibility for corporate banking, trade finance and treasury services, built to pass an internal compliance review first time.
Insurance & risk
Ranking for commercial lines, employee benefits and specialty risk queries that brokers and HR directors search.
Accounting & audit
Highly competitive terms around incorporation, statutory audit and corporate secretarial work — won through content depth, not budget.
Legal & arbitration
Practice-area authority, named-partner content and directory citations that convert search visibility into instructions.
Recruitment & executive search
Two-sided search demand — candidates and hiring managers — needing two very different content strategies on one domain.
Enterprise SaaS & fintech
B2B products selling into the banks upstairs. Long sales cycles, technical buyers, and search terms that reward genuinely useful content.
Coworking & serviced offices
Fiercely local, review-driven and Map Pack dependent — where a single Business Profile fix can shift enquiry volume within weeks.
Lunch-trade F&B
Boat Quay, Lau Pa Sat and Change Alley operators living on weekday footfall and “lunch near me” searches between 11.30 and 2.
Want to know what your competitors are ranking for?I’ll send you the keyword gap — the terms they win and you don’t — before you commit to anything.
Book a Free ConsultationRaffles Place, as an SEO problem
You cannot optimise a district you do not understand. Here is what actually shapes search behaviour in Singapore’s original CBD.
The MRT interchange sets the rhythm
Raffles Place station (NS26/EW14) is one of the busiest interchanges on the network. The morning surge, the 12.30 lunch exodus and the 6.30 clear-out create three completely distinct mobile search windows — and F&B, retail and services clients should be optimised for different ones.
The towers that hold the tenants
One Raffles Place, Republic Plaza, UOB Plaza, OUE Bayfront, Six Battery Road, Chevron House and the Bank of China Building. Almost every client I work with here sits in one of them, and building-level relevance is a signal most competitors never bother to build.
Streets that define the search radius
Battery Road, Cecil Street, Robinson Road, Market Street and D'Almeida Street. These are the boundaries Google uses to reason about your location — and where the district blurs into Marina Bay to the south-east and Tanjong Pagar to the south-west.
The eating ecosystem drives mobile search
Lau Pa Sat, Boat Quay and the Change Alley food cluster generate enormous weekday lunch demand. For any F&B client here, Map Pack position between 11am and 1pm is worth more than every blog post they will ever publish.
The river, the heritage, the visitors
Boat Quay and the Singapore River bring an evening and weekend audience — tourists, expats, after-work drinks — that behaves nothing like the weekday office crowd. Two audiences, one postcode, and most brands only optimise for one.
The weekend problem
Raffles Place is close to empty on Sundays. If your business depends on weekend trade, your local strategy has to reach beyond the district — and I will tell you that honestly rather than sell you a local campaign that cannot work.
How local SEO actually works in Raffles Place
Seven levers. In a district this dense, the order you pull them in matters enormously.
Fix the Google Business Profile first
It is the fastest win available and almost always neglected. Correct category, current suite number, real photos, a complete service list and active Q&A. I have seen Map Pack position move within three weeks on this alone.
Build prominence, because proximity is useless here
Every competitor is next door. What separates you is brand authority, citation consistency and content depth — the signals Google leans on once proximity stops being a differentiator.
Reviews as a competitive moat
Review count, recency and response rate are visible ranking and conversion factors. In a district where firms rarely ask, a disciplined review programme puts you ahead of competitors who have five reviews from 2021.
Citations that a bank would approve of
Singapore business registries, professional institutes, chambers of commerce. Consistent, verifiable, and free of the spam directories that pollute most CBD firms' citation profiles.
Location content with something to say
This page mentions Republic Plaza and Lau Pa Sat because those things matter here. If a location page could be pasted onto another district without changing a word, Google will treat it as the filler it is.
Nearby and hyperlocal search intent
“Corporate secretary near Raffles Place”, “audit firm Battery Road”, “coworking Republic Plaza”. Tiny volumes, extraordinary conversion rates, almost no competition for them because nobody bothers.
Track what a director cares about
Not impressions. Map Pack position for your money terms, non-brand organic traffic, calls from Maps, and form fills that turned into meetings. If we cannot tie SEO to those, we are decorating.
Why work with an independent consultant in a district full of agencies
Raffles Place is full of firms who have been pitched by every agency in Singapore. The pitch is always excellent. The delivery is usually a junior executive, a shared template and a report full of impressions. I am the alternative: one experienced SEO expert in Singapore, doing the work personally, accountable to you directly.
Ten years in search means I have made most of the mistakes already — and I have cleaned up after a lot of agencies that made them on someone else's site. I will tell you when a tactic is risky, when a request is a waste of money, and when the honest answer is that you do not need me at all.
A decade of hands-on search work
Across Singapore, the Gulf and the US. Enough scars to know which shortcuts blow up, and enough range to know what actually transfers between markets.
Transparent, jargon-free reporting
One monthly view you can forward to a director without translating it. Wins, losses and what changes next month.
Strictly white-hat
No bought links, no private networks, no manipulation. For a regulated firm, a manual penalty is not a setback — it is a reputational event.
Judged on business outcomes
Traffic that does not produce enquiries is a vanity metric. I would rather deliver 200 of the right visitors than 20,000 of the wrong ones.
Every plan is bespoke
Your competitors, your legacy site, your compliance constraints. No two engagements I have run in this district have looked the same.
You get me, not a handoff
The person on the strategy call is the person doing the crawl, writing the briefs and answering your email on a Thursday night.
Independent consultant vs agency: the honest version
Agencies are not bad. They are built for scale, and scale is not what a firm in one tower actually needs.
Five Raffles Place engagements
Every one of these started with a firm that ranked for its own name and almost nothing else.
The problem: Competing against incorporation platforms with huge content budgets and losing every single informational search. What we did: Built a genuinely useful resource hub on incorporation, ACRA filing and strike-off timelines, fixed a legacy redirect mess, and earned links from SME business media. Timeline: 8 months.
The problem: A 2015 backlink profile full of paid directory links that was quietly suppressing everything the firm published. What we did: Audited and disavowed the toxic profile, rebuilt service pages with named partner authorship, and replaced the lost authority with legitimate institute and press citations. Timeline: 9 months.
The problem: Strong reputation offline, invisible online. Every commercial-lines query in Singapore was going to the big three brokers. What we did: Targeted the specific, unglamorous long-tail queries the giants ignore — industry-specific cover, claims processes, renewal questions — and built conversion paths into each one. Timeline: 6 months.
The problem: Two locations, one incorrectly categorised Business Profile, no reviews and a website that never mentioned the building name people search for. What we did: Rebuilt both profiles, launched a member review programme, and created building-level landing pages targeting the exact hyperlocal terms occupiers use. Timeline: 4 months.
The problem: Ranking well for dinner searches and nowhere for the lunch trade that actually pays the rent. What we did: Split the content strategy by daypart, optimised the Business Profile for lunch attributes and hours, and targeted the “lunch near Raffles Place” cluster properly for the first time. Timeline: 3 months.

Message Me on WhatsAppRaffles Place clients, in their own words
He found a redirect problem from a 2018 site migration that three agencies had missed. Traffic started climbing within six weeks of fixing it. I would rather have one person who looks properly than a team who runs a tool.
Nobody had ever told us our old backlinks were the problem. Gaurav did, in the first meeting, and then spent nine months methodically fixing it. It was not fast, but it was right.
Practical and direct. He ignored the vanity keywords we were obsessed with and went after the boring ones that actually convert. Quote requests nearly tripled.
Our Google listing had the wrong category for two years. Fixed in a week, and the phone started ringing. Everything he does is like that — unglamorous and effective.
He asked one question nobody else had: which meal actually makes you money? Then he rebuilt everything around lunch. Bookings up, and we finally understand why.
